SECTIONS

The event is divided into three sections by age: u18, u13 and u9.  Ages are as at 1 September 2022, so if your 9th birthday was on 24 September 2022, you can still enter the u9 section.

All matches should be completed by 16.00 and the Prizegiving will take place as soon as possible thereafter.

 

ENTRY FEES

The entry fee for all sections is £17.00.  English Chess Federation members (Silver level or above) may deduct £2.00 from this entry fee.  Any junior who has not previously been a member of the ECF can obtain a year’s free Silver membership.  To join the ECF, go to www.englishchess.org.uk.

 

PAYMENT

We’d like you to pay online using PayPal.  However, if you prefer to pay by cheque, please send to Bob Jones, Crofts Place, Little Saxham, Bury St Edmunds, IP29 5LE, making your cheque payable to Bury Knights Junior Chess Club.

 

RATE OF PLAY/CLOCKS

The rate of play for all sections will be 25 minutes per player per game.  Clocks will be used in all sections and assistance will be given to any player unused to handling them.

 

BYES

Players may request a HALF-POINT BYE in the first round only, if travelling to the event for an 09.30 start causes a problem.  Otherwise, entrants will play in all rounds (Swiss System).  It is NOT a knockout event.

 

CLOSING DATE

Online entries will be accepted up to and including Friday 12th May.  Postal entries must be postmarked no later than Wednesday 10th May.   Acceptance after these dates will depend on availability of space and payment of a £3.00 late entry fee.

 

PRIZES

Cash prizes will be awarded according to size of entry.  Section winners will also receive trophies.

 

RATINGS

All results will be submitted to the English Chess Federation for their Rapidplay Rating List.

 

REFRESHMENTS

Light refreshments will be available throughout the event.  Players may bring and consume their own packed lunches.
