The event is divided into three sections by age: u18, u13 and u9.\u00a0 Ages are as at 1 September 2022, so if your 9th birthday was on 24 September 2022, you can still enter the u9 section.<\/p>\n

ENTRY FEES<\/strong><\/p>\n

The entry fee for all sections is \u00a317.00.\u00a0 English Chess Federation members (Silver level or above) may deduct \u00a32.00 from this entry fee.\u00a0 Any junior who has not previously been a member of the ECF can obtain a year\u2019s free Silver membership.\u00a0 To join the ECF, go to\u00a0www.englishchess.org.uk<\/a>.<\/a><\/p>\n

PAYMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

RATE OF PLAY\/CLOCKS<\/strong><\/p>\n

The rate of play for all sections will be 25 minutes per player per game.\u00a0 Clocks will be used in all sections and assistance will be given to any player unused to handling them.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

BYES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Players may request a HALF-POINT BYE in the first round only, if travelling to the event for an 09.30 start causes a problem.\u00a0 Otherwise, entrants will play in all rounds (Swiss System).\u00a0 It is NOT a knockout event.<\/p>\n

CLOSING DATE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Online entries will be accepted up to and including Friday 12th May<\/strong>.\u00a0 Postal entries must be postmarked no later than Wednesday 10th May.\u00a0 \u00a0Acceptance after these dates will depend on availability of space and payment of a \u00a33.00 late entry fee.<\/p>\n

PRIZES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cash prizes will be awarded according to size of entry.\u00a0 Section winners will also receive trophies.<\/p>\n

RATINGS<\/strong><\/p>\n

All results will be submitted to the English Chess Federation for their Rapidplay Rating List.<\/p>\n

REFRESHMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Light refreshments will be available throughout the event.\u00a0 Players may bring and consume their own packed lunches.<\/p>\n
