The event is divided into four sections by age and grade: u18, u11, u9 and Minor. Ages are as at 1 September 2019, so if your 11th birthday was on 24 September 2019, you can still enter the u11 section. The Minor is for those aged under 11 and who are either graded under 50, or ungraded.
|Round 1 start||09:30|
All matches should be completed by 17.00 and the Prizegiving will take place as soon as possible thereafter.
The entry fee for all sections is £17.00. English Chess Federation members (Silver level or above) may deduct £2.00 from this entry fee. To join the ECF, go to www.englishchess.org.uk. Any junior who has not previously been a member of the ECF can obtain a year’s free Silver membership.
We’d like you to pay online using PayPal. However, if you prefer to pay by cheque, please send to Bob Jones, Crofts Place, Little Saxham, Bury St Edmunds, IP29 5LE, making your cheque payable to Bury Knights Junior Chess Club.
RATE OF PLAY/CLOCKS
The rate of play for all sections will be 30 minutes per player per game. Clocks will be used in all sections and assistance will be given to any player unused to handling them.
Players may request a HALF-POINT BYE in the first round only, if travelling to the event for an 09.30 start causes a problem. Otherwise, entrants will play in all rounds (Swiss System). It is NOT a knockout event.
Online entries will be accepted up to and including Friday 15th May. Postal entries must be postmarked no later than Wednesday 13th May. Acceptance after these dates will depend on availability of space and payment of a £3.00 late entry fee.
